Whitney Elizabeth Houston was conceived to a musical family 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey. Whitney is a cousin and daughter to singing superstar Dionne. At the age of a small girl, Houston began performing professionally in her church's choir. She was a backing vocalist for Chaka Khosns 1978 single Im Every Woman with her mother. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut record for an artist in 1985. From the album, she had several smash singles, such as Saving All My Love for You How Do You Know You Give Good Love and The Greatest Love of All. This resulted in her having seven US number one hits consecutively. The singer beat the Beatles. The album came out in 1987, and it sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The album Whitney which came out in 1987, and featuring the smash tracks How Do Broken Hearts go? and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, was a follow-up to her success from. But it came with The Bodyguard (1996) that made her one of music's best sellers. The Bodyguard's performance as a film and soundtrack was not popular however, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You as well as the album accompanying it were top of the charts across the world for months. Also in 1993 that she was married to Bobby Brown, an ex-New Edition singer with whom she bore her sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.
