April Ross
April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars who have managed to have medals won at many Olympics. Ross is scheduled to compete in Tokyo in her third Olympics medal alongside Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. In fact, at 39, this might be her final chance to get it done. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is at hand. If we play our best or even play very well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, I am going try to be a little fortunate. Ross born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing sports in Newport Harbor High School. She was able to participate in numerous activities in Newport Harbor High School. In addition to playing indoor volleyball, she also played basketball and jogged track as professional athletes. She was definitely a one of a kind in this latter game. As a high school volleyball season in her college profile, she played the roles of an outside blocker, middle blocker settingter, and hitter. The honor was conferred to her by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Her volleyball skills also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. While Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing in 2017 and beyond, Klineman had already been a major participant on the beaches even before the pair formed. She actually won numerous major events with two other partners, one of which was a volleyball icon. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also as a coach and Klineman. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. The duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor decided to retire. They went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was part of the USC Trojans in high school after she finished the high school she attended. Ross's time in the Trojans was stellar. In 2000, as a freshman she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year recognition and was an All-American. Furthermore, she assisted her Trojans reach the Final Four. During her sophomore season, she experienced a devastating personal loss but still managed to win an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans on a climb and took home consecutive national championships. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend receiving in 2003 and 2004 the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was an international relations major at USC. However, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness her daughter rise to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mom Margie passed away in the year 2001. Ross was still at the age of a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both on and off the beach.
